Welcome
The National Early Music Association (registered charity 297300) was formed in 1981, as one outcome of the 1977 London conference entitled ‘The future of early music in Britain’. There was felt to be a need for a coordinating body for the many strands of early musical activity in Britain, and NEMA was set up to meet this need, and to promote the appreciation and performance (both amateur and professional) of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and later music. NEMA now works alongside the established regional Early Music forums, which run practical workshops and courses, and other early music organisations in Britain and throughout the world.
It has produced numerous publications (currently Early Music Performance and Research and the NEMA Newsletter, both twice yearly), and organises regular academic conferences and other events. There is currently no fee to join NEMA or to access its publications.
If you would like to be kept updated about NEMA, please leave your details below. All personal information will be stored securely and will only be used for the purposes of contacting you with updates from NEMA.
Thank you
